INTRODUCTION

NAGALAND ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION

      The Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission was established under the provisions of Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003 as a One-Member Commission to be known as Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). It is a One-Member Body designated to function as an autonomous authority responsible for regulating of the power sector in the State of Nagaland. It is a statutory body functioning with quasi-judicial status.

 

DEPARTMENT OF POWER, NAGALAND

       The business of generation, transmission, distribution and retail supply of electricity in the State of Nagaland is carried out by the Department of Power, Nagaland, a deemed licensee under section 14 of the Electricity Act,2003. It serves about 2.16lakhs consumers as on 31.3.2014 with annual consumption of about 490.00 MU.
